Avatására 1994. október 20-án került sor a Nógrád Megyei Közgyűlés épületének északi falán. A körplasztika alatt emléktábla, melyet 1998-ban állított a POFOSZ Nógrád Megyei Szervezete, Nógrád Megye Önkormányzata, Salgótarján Megyei Jogú Város Önkormányzata. Az emléktábla szövege: "Az 1956-os forradalom és szabadságharc ismert és ismeretlen Nógrád megyei mártírjai emlékére. Alapi László Geczkó István Hadady Rudolf Hargitai Lajos Pálinkás Antal honvéd őrnagy Állíttatta: POFOSZ Nógrád Megyei Szervezete Nógrád Megye Önkormányzata Salgótarján Megyei Jogú Város Önkormányzata 1998".
A felvétel 2022-ben, Salgótarján várossá nyilvánításának 100. , centenáriumi évében készült.

Hazánk egyik legrégebbi ipari nagyüzeme. Salgótarjáni Vasfinomító Társulat néven jött létre 1868-ban, majd 1881-ben megalakult Rimamurányi-Salgótarjáni Vasmű Rt. Később Salgótarjáni Acélgyár, Salgótarjáni Acélárugyár, Salgótarjáni Kohászati Üzemek néven ismerhettük.

A felvételen a Salgótarjáni Öblösüveggyár finomcsiszoló műhelyében mutatós díszítés kerül a szépformájú üvegárukra.
Salgótarjáni Öblösüveggyár elődjét 1893. december 10-én adták át az Egyesült Magyarhoni Üveggyárak Rt. hatodik gyáraként. A palackgyárat Lukács Béla Huta néven indították. Működéséhez minden megtalálható volt az akkor még falu Salgótarjánban: jó minőségű barnaszén, kvarchomok és vasút. Az első 20 évben kézi fúvással készített ásványvizes, boros, sörös, likőrös, gyógy- és vegyszeres palackokat gyártottak, 1897-98-ban már 4,7 millió palackot adtak el.
1904 decemberétől a gyár önállósult és Salgótarjáni Palackgyár néven működött 1909 márciusáig. Akkor a cseh Mühling Union Glashütten AG irányítása alá került. Ekkor komoly fejlesztések indultak, például 1913-ban a Magyarországon egyedülálló Owens-rendszerű palackfúvó automata beüzemelésével, ami egészen 1958-ig működött. A kézi üvegfúvás azonban mindvégig döntő szerepet játszott.
A gyárat 1948 március 25-én államosították és 1949-től mint Salgótarjáni Üveggyár Nemzeti Vállalat működött. Nagy fejlődést jelentett a gyár teljes rekonstrukciója (2 szakaszban,1953-1970), amelyben új kádkemencék, fazekaskemencék, üzemcsarnokok, irodaház épült, új automata gépeket helyeztek üzembe. 1968-tól a gyár neve Üvegipari Művek Salgótarjáni Öblösüveggyára lett. Az 1970-1980-as évek a gyár fénykora volt: a nyereségesen működő vállalkozás a világ minden tájára exportált kézi és gépi gyártású üvegeket.
1992-től a gyár az Üvegipari Művek megszűnése és a külkereskedelmi cégek felbomlása után ST Glass Öblösüveggyártó és Forgalmazó RT néven, önálló cégként működött tovább. Az önállóság azonban nehéz pénzügyi helyzetben találta a gyárat,: bár volt év, amikor a több mint 10 gyárat tömörítő Üvegipari Művek nyereségének 30%-át ez a gyár adta, az önállósodás teljes likvidhiánnyal kezdődött, a fejlesztések és a pénzek felosztása a megszűnésekor nem a korábbi működési eredmények arányában történt, a gyár komoly tőkehiánnyal indult a kényszerű önálló életbe.
Többszöri tulajdonosváltás után a vállalat 2006 és 2009 évben felszámolásra került.
Az üveggyártáshoz kapcsolódó példás, értékes szakértelem és sok évtizedes tapasztalat azonban nem veszett el : új telephelyen és új vállalkozásban újraindult az üveggyártás 2012-ben, ez a mostani Tarján Glass Kft.
Társaságunk a városban élő öblösüveg gyártási hagyományokat hivatott továbbvinni, felhasználva a rendelkezésre álló tudástőkét, a város és a helyi közösség lelkes támogatását és mindazt az örökséget, ami mintegy 120 évre mutat vissza.
