A Nógrád Megyei Tanács Székháza parkjában került felállításra 1967. november 7.-én. Heitler László Marton Lászlóról 1985-ben megjelent könyvében a jelentősebb köztéri alkotások között említi. A rendszerváltás után lebontották, egyes források szerint 1991-ben ellopták.

A felvételen dr. Vitális Sándor geológus egyetemi tanár szobra látható. Az alkotást 1987. július 10-én pénteken avatták fel Salgótarjánban a Bányamúzeum előtt. A szobor-portét Mészáros Mihály szobrászművész készítette, amelyet Bencsik Béla a Magyar Hidrológiai Társaság elnöke leplezett le a Magyar Hidrológiai Társaság salgótarjáni emlékülése alkalmából. Dr. Vitális Sándor 17 éven át volt a társaság elnöke és Nógrád megyében is dolgozott főgeológusként. A szobor anyag bronz volt, kőoszlopon állt, a szobrot ellopták, jelenleg a kőoszlop és a rajta lévő emléktábla látható.

A felvételen Kalló Viktor szobrászművész 1967-ben felállított mobil alkotásának részlete látható. Az eredeti mű alapján krómacél horgon három más-más formájú hal lógott. A vörösréz, krómacél mobil alkotás tartó szerkezete a salgótarjáni Tóstrand parkjában látható, a halakat idő közben elvitték, jelenleg ismeretlen helyen vannak. A mai magyar művészet sorozatban, Újvári Béla által írt Kalló Viktor kötetben (1978) a műalkotás Rétságon került volna felállításra.
