Szöveg: Balassagyarmat 1940. VII. 22. Kedves Karcsikám! Itt vagyok Balassagyarmaton vasárnap reggel jöttem, nem tudom meddig leszek itt, szép hely, sok gyümölcs van, a város is barátságos. Én ugyan egy nyaralóban vagyok az ujtelepen Balassagyarmat mellette, de bejárok a városba ha valamit megkivánok. Rokonaimnál vagyok. Gyönyörű kertbe van villájuk "Ilon lak" cimen. Te hogy vagy, mikor jössz haza, írjál ha tudsz, de ha írsz lehetpleg minél előbb még e hétnek a közepéig, hogy leveled kézhez kaphassam, a városi címem adom meg, mert a posta-kézbesítés körülményes, mert én egy hegyen vagyok, de a városka minden nap bejárok, és azért szeretném, ha még a hét közepéig írnál, mert szeretnék innen egy fürdőre elutazni (...) De ha nincs időd, akkor már a jövő héten otthon leszek és oda írhatod. Szeretném, ha már haza jönnél és együtt lehetnénk egy kicsit. Mikor jössz? Írjál mindenről. Én egészségileg most elég jól érzem magam étvágyam is van. a pesti út is tervbe van véve, fogunk menni, meglátogatunk, de bízom hogy Te már haza jössz addigra, ha igen, akkor majd egy vasárnap vagy szombat délutánleutazunk, Nellike kedvéért szeretném, mert ő még nem volt. Te is jönnél velünk. Azért szeretnék a jövő héten már otthon lenni, mert pihenni szeretnék egy kicsit. Itt nem pihenek sokat, máskülönben jól érzem magam, bent a városba mindent lehet kapni, eszek is iszok is, kis jó bort, sört is ittam, olyan jó esik egy kicsit szomjúságból, fagylaltozok, a moziba is voltam vasárnap. Szép liget van a múzeummal együtt, tudod mindenhova visznek, mindent mutogatnak a rokonok, egész vasárnap a birtokot mutogatták, úgy hogy itt csak egy hét mulva tudnék pihenni, amikor már mindent megnéztem.
