A Városháza árkádja alatt, L-alakban övező üvegfal előtt található a Salgótarjáni Panteon, amely olyan személyiségeknek állít emléket, akik életükkel, munkásságukkal a közjót szolgálták és elősegítették Salgótarján fejlődését. A Panteonban 2000-2002 között hét, majd 2014-ben egy szoborportrét állítottak fel az utókornak emlékül.

A felvételen a Dornyay Béla Múzeum Szabadtéri kiállítóhelyén a vasútállomáson található mozdonyok láthatók. Ilonka - a 377,210 pályaszámú szertartályos tolató gőzmozdony. A MÁV 1895-ben gyártott mozdonya a II. világháború után Lengyelországban szolgált,
majd a Salgótarjáni Kohászati Üzemek acélgyárában teljesített szolgálatot. Valamint az egykor a salgótarjáni acélgyárban szolgálatot teljesítő - Mazsola - az A21 052 pályaszámú dízelmechanikus Rába-mozdony (tolatómozdony). Mazsolát 2016. június 25-én adták át hivatalosan a nagyközönség számára. Különlegesség, hogy egy vasútállomáson két történeti jelentőségű mozdony látható.

Az emléktábla felirata: "A 23/53. Salgótarjáni Zászlóalj 1942-1943-as Doni harcokban résztvevő hős katonáinak emlékére Állította: Salgótarján Önkormányzata Nógrádi Történeti Múzeum Baráti Köre 1997." A fekete gránit emléktáblát 1997-ben avatták.
