A felvételen Stöckert Károly (névváltozat: Soproni Stöckert Károly) "Bányász házaspár" című alkotása látható (más forrás szerint Bányász idill - az alkotás bal oldalán a házaspár férfi tagja, egyik kezében bányászlámpa, másikban a vállára helyezett légkalapács látható. Vele szemben felesége teli kosarat tart karjaiban. ). A dombormű 1954-ben készült, anyaga klinker tégla, felállításának helye Nógrádi Szénbányák Vállalat irodaháza (ma: APEH Székház) nyugati oldalán. Id. Szabó István szerint a domborművet Pothornyik József igazgató hozatta Budapestről. A felvétel 1987-ben készült.

1997. április 18-án Salgótarjánban Európa-nap rendezvénysorozat megtartására került sor, melynek keretében az Európai Unió parkjának megnyitása is program volt. Eredeti helyéről a Fő tér felújítása miatt elbontották, később került mostani helyére.
