A szobor felállításának időpontja 1970. november 6., a márvány talapzaton öt hegyes álló és egy fekvő vasbeton oszlopból álló alkotást a Lenin téren (ma: December 8. tér) helyezték el. Felirata: Dicsőség a felszabadító hősöknek. Az emlékművet 1991-ben elbontották, helyére új került.

Anyaga terméskő, körülötte vaskerítés. Felirata: "Örök dicsőség a hős szovjet katonáknak, akik a magyar nép szabadságáért estek el." Az emlékmű ma már nem látható. A felvétel 1988 januárjában készült.
