A történész, muzeológus, a Nógrádi Történeti Múzeum címzetes igazgatója, Nógrád Megye és Salgótarján Díszpolgára, életének 66. évében elment közülünk.
Dr. Horváth Istvánt Salgótarján Megyei Jogú Város Önkormányzata és Nógrád Megye Önkormányzata megrendülten gyászolja.
Halálával Salgótarján és Nógrád megye szellemi, kulturális élete pótolhatatlan veszteséget szenvedett.
Temetése 2005. április 23-án (szombaton) 11 órakor lesz a zagyvapálfalvai régi temetőben.
